Hi, I’m up on the StickItDown sketch challenge blog today! And I also designed the single page sketch for the month!! Here it is:
So obviously I had to shift things around a bit to make everything fit with the letter that I chose- Q for Qi. That was just the best place for the photo- nestled in the little swoop. I challenged myself with two things for this layout- do some embroidery stitching and use stamps. I have so many stamps and I so rarely use them.
For the background, I started with some mixed media. I cut my Q with my Silhouette and I decided that I wanted to keep it white and have colour peeking out from behind it. I smooshed some shimmer sprays down in the general shape of the letter, checking my Q against it every now and then to make sure I had enough coverage. Then while I waited for that to dry, I started my stitching. That took a little while, but I put on some Mindy Project and stitched and I was done in no time. Especially since I had a little helper trying to supervise.
I used mostly Cute Girl collection from Crate Paper on this layout. Even though my cutie is a boy. That black CUTE banner fit so well in that swoop. I layered some papers from the 6×6 pad and the ephemera pack under the photo. I used my first ever rubber accent too!
I used the chipboard sticker sheet quite a bit on this. I absolutely adore that TOTES ADORBS ephemera piece. I also used a couple of strips of that adorable kittie washi tape from Staples.
I went on a Michael’s splurge recently and picked up some Heidi Swapp stamps that had that star. I also used the stamps from the Cute Girl collection, and my Dear Lizzy date stamp.
I thought that crown acetate piece went perfectly with this photo. He is in fact royalty! I used my shimmer sprays on a makeup sponge and blotted that through a paw print stencil on the background as well. Some gold and purple sequins completed the page.
I can’t wait to see what letter everyone chooses and how they incorporate it into their layout!! remember to link up over at SID challenge blog!
xoxo
