Freebie Friday! Snowflakes

Hi everybody!

Sorry I’ve been so MIA these past few months… I’ve been crazy busy! I spent all of November working on a Dance Theater show with my dance troupe. It was an amazing success (sold out all 4 nights!) but in order to get to that stage, it took a lot of practice, which meant that I’ve had no free time ever. I have another dance show coming up next week, which I’m also busy practicing for and making costumes, etc.  I work full time, which in December means I work sunrise to sunset (ugh winter), which means I can’t get any good photos of my projects that I do manage to get done. And between Christmas shopping and parties…. and I’m so behind on my xmas cards as well! I am planning on photographing my christmas cards tomorrow in the two minutes of sunlight I have, so next week will be card week on the blog! I did get a tiny bit of decorating done…

Today, I have a special snowflake treat for you guys! Snowflakes are my favorite decoration this time of year- being white they go with everything! I love making those 3D snowflakes… I’m sure you’ve seen them floating around Pinterest.

I started making them, and immediately thought… there has to be a better way…

Dolls Scrapbook Layout and Card- Guest Design

I am super excited to be guest designing this month over at the As You See It challenge blog! Amanda has created a wonderful sketch that you can see here. I have taken that sketch and turned it on its side for this layout.

IMG_1918

This was so fun to make, with lots of mixed media and layering of vellum Open Book pieces from Maggie Holmes over bits from the Then & Now ephemera pack from MME. Here are a couple of close ups:

IMG_1919I used Jillibean Soup Alphabeans in Mushroom Grey and lots of washi tape. I even used a bit of tulle from my tutu in this layout.

IMG_1921

I tucked the photos behind the tulle and layers so they peek out.

Lastly I added a date stamp with the performance date. That’s me in the red there!

As well as a layout, I made a card for this challenge.

IMG_1923

The sentiment came from a Dear Lizzy 6×6 paper pad, and I used stamps from the dollar store to gold emboss the banner and stars.

Hop on over to the blog to see the challenge and link up your interpretation!

xoxo

Istanbul

IMG_1936

We were only in Istanbul for a day, but we go so many photos, it was really hard to narrow it down to a page’s worth. I was inspired by the beautiful blue mosaics that we saw all over.

CUTE Scrapbook Layout 1

IMG_1931

Yes, this is a Paige Evans scraplift. I’ve had this idea ever since I saw the inspiring layout, to do a similar one for my cat scrapbooks. Of course I wanted to put my own spin on it by using different colors, a different font, and a different 4 letter word.

Happy Friday :)

This week I have a fun file with three different scalloped borders. You can keep them short, or place them side by side and weld for longer ones.

20 ways to use a Silhouette for your scrapbook layout

I’ve heard many people ask if a Silhouette Portrait or Cameo is worth it for scrapbooking. Personally, I can’t make a scrapbook layout without my Silhouette Portrait! That might sound a bit extreme but there’s so many different ways to use it on a layout that it becomes a part of your creative process. I have compiled a list with examples of over 20 ways to use it on a scrapbook layout. It doesn’t matter if you have a Portrait or a Cameo, there’s plenty of uses for both.
