I have some exciting news- I’ve made a couple of sketches and we are using one this month over at Stick it Down challenge blog! I’m super stoked that my sketch is being used and I’m very excited to see what everyone comes up with! Here’s the sketch:
As you can see I followed my own sketch pretty closely. I actually had this layout in mind when I made the sketch. And I’m really pleased with how this turned out.
I used my Silhouette Portrait for the bulk of this layout. This is one way you can make almost full page cutout backgrounds without a Cameo. I trimmed my cardstock down to 8.5×12 and made my design to fit. Then I attached some CTMH polka dot paper to the top and bottom to make it 12×12. You can also cheat and use white cardstock and it would look like a full page. I’ll have to show you on a future layout! But to follow the sketch I used polka dot pattern paper, and stitched it down for a decorative border.
Part of the cut design was square holes for the photos that are slightly larger than my photos. I used a little bit of watercolour paint around the edges of each square. I then backed the holes with white cardstock and centered the photos in the holes. This was from back when I had longer blond hair too. Aren’t we adorable?
I backed each letter with some patterned paper. I pulled from a bunch of collections and brands- I was aiming to match a paper that I wanted to use for my other Madrid page. I stitched around each letter with different colours and I added little embellies in letters that would have a hole. That wood veneer arrow is Crate Paper Hello Love.
I used some grey Recollections enamel dots, some dollar store puffy hearts, and that arrow from Pink Paislee atlas. I feel SUPER weird about using an embellishment that says “right now” on it, seeing as this happened like 2 years ago? But I liked the grey and the shape. Anyone else feel this way?
That little insta camera is also Atlas, and I stuck it down with that travel often sticker from Webster’s Pages Painted Passport. Last thing I felt my layout needed was a couple of strips at the bottom. I’m still a little obsessed with fringe.
This is silver glitter tape and the back side of the polka dot paper. This page ended up being really quick and simple for me, even with the Silhouette design and cutting and the tiny bit of mixed media. I’m already loving the stuff the rest of the team has come up with for my sketch and I cannot wait to see what everyone will do! Link up for me on the Stick it Down blog!
