Of course I had to use the soft kitty warm kitty poem somewhere in my cat themed scrapbook! This page started with some washi tape. The cat washi tape, which had white cats on it. But I wanted them to be peach colored, like Tiger. I experimented with various methods to color the washi tape with varying results (watercolor- didn’t soak in; marker- sat on top of the tape until you rubbed it in; pigment ink- worked really well actually, but was a lot of work) until I realized that the washi tape was slightly see through! I could layer it over some orange colored 6×6 cardstock (Bazzill) and the orange would shine through, making the kitties peach! With the bright colors and bright photos, I wanted a neutral background (I used Craft Smith’s Typecraft pad), and some white space for the poem. I wanted to add stitching to the white, but felt it would be too busy, so I added texture by distressing the cardstock a bit.
See, how cute are those kitties? For the main title I used AC Dear Lizzy glitter thickers and I cut the rest of the words from brown cardstock. The Nap Often Vellum is from Deja Views Cat’s Life collection. I had some of those little flowers from a set of hand me down craft stuff that I got from a friend who doesn’t scrapbook anymore, which I scattered across the page and added some gems to.
I was watching a lot of Missy Whidden’s Youtube videos lately and was inspired by her clump of yarn technique to try it myself! I thought this would be the perfect layout for a little ball of string.
Gotta love those adorable dollar store cat stickers! The Purrs are Jillibean Soup Alphabeans in Mushroom Gray, some MME’s Necessities wooden mini-alphas and AC Bingo Chips Thickers.
I also added some home-made enamel dots (melted pony beads). They were kinda lumpy, but I thought they were cute.
After uploading the photos, I had realized that I got the soft kitty/warm kitty part mixed up! I couldn’t figure out which part actually went first, they both sounded right… so I’m keeping it that way! It’s my own unique take on that!
Here’s the cut file that I made for this layout:
